i think i would be a lot more forgiving of lin-manuel miranda being cast in a load of random shit because of his dumb musical if he weren’t so utterly swagless in every role, so completely lacking in charisma and screen presence. he’s just always the weak link in the cast

this man was born to play awkward bookish dweebs like himself, not fucking Lee Scoresby and Hermes

if i’d made this post 5 years ago i would have been publicly disemboweled

the ruling class will do whatever it can to snuff out what little power you have, and to render you inescapably and utterly enslaved

Case is Glacier Northwest v the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, more here

This is being framed as like, “Oh no, if they do this, the working class will lose their best bargaining chip!”

Bitch if they do this we’re going back to shooting the bosses in the streets. Strikes and protests are the polite way the working class gets what it wants. The current wave of labour activism in the US isn’t going away just because the ruling class wants them to–ask the GOP how well that’s been going for them.

All this is gonna do is convince a lot of workers who might otherwise have run a fairly ineffectual strike to start getting really fucking nasty with it, since the government just told them they’re gonna be treated like criminals either way.

I feel like the ruling classes–especially in America–have forgotten a lesson we were supposed to have learned back in the 1700s–that if the penalty for thievery is the same as for murder, then thieves are going to tend to murder witnesses to prevent either crime being discovered. In this case, if the penalty for smashing the boss’s machinery or holding an unannounced wildcat strike is the same as doing the ineffectually polite way where you ask permission, vote, and announce it, then congratulations there’s now no bar of entry keeping people from taking the more effective option any longer.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable.”

Welcome back to the Labor Wars everybody.
